Lighting up Memorial Park in Richmond

Saturday, December 6 will see the annual Lighting of the Park take place at Memorial Park in the heart of Richmond.

The  ceremony will get underway at 7 p.m. with lots of singing, the unveiling of the new winter street banners designed by Richmond youngsters and the turning on of the Christmas lights at the park. In addition, Santa Claus is expected to make an appearance, just like he has other years.

The Kiwanis Club of Goulbourn will be on hand for refreshments.

Everyone is invited to attend this festive occasion.

It will mark the conclusion of a busy day in Richmond as Saturday, December 6 is also the date for the annual Christmas parade. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. at South Carleton High School, proceeding north on McBean Street to Perth Street and then west on Perth Street to the Richmond Plaza.

Interested businesses, community groups, churches and individuals are all urged to enter a float in this year’s parade.
